“Nobody on earth can touch Article 370″, says Rashid
VHP international working president Praveen Togadia’s statement in Jammu that Article 370 “has to go” drew flak from mainstream political parties in the Valley on Sunday.
Terming Article 370 a bridge between India and J&K, National Conference general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar said nobody can dare to touch it. “Who is Togadia? What can he do?” Sagar said. “I think they are just playing to the gallery. They won’t do anything.”
Congress state president G A Mir said, “The CMP (common minimum programme) they (PDP-BJP) put before the people said that status quo would be maintained on Article 370. Now they are ditching everyone.”
The PDP said Togadia’s statement doesn’t make any difference. “We have talked about it in CMP. Even Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said in parliament they would maintain status quo on Article 370,” PDP legislator Ashraf Mir said. “If somebody talks about it, let them speak. It doesn’t make any difference to us.”
Independent legislator Engineer Rashid “advised Togadia to stop daydreaming”. “Nobody on earth can touch this Article,” Rashid added.
