On Ambedkar birth anniversary, Shah, Rajnath to kick off BJP campaign
Sushil Kumar Modi, former deputy CM and BJP legislature party leader, said the meeting would give a clear direction to the party workers for the elections.
Eyeing Dalit voters, BJP president Amit Shah and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh would formally launch the Assembly poll campaign in Bihar on Tuesday — the 125th birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar. They would be addressing party workers, being drawn from over 62,000 booths across the state.
By scheduling the key party meeting on Ambedkar Jayanti, BJP appears to be trying to woo Dalit voters. BJP is already harping on the “insult” meted out to former Dalit CM Jitan Ram Manjhi by JD(U) and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Sushil Kumar Modi, former deputy CM and BJP legislature party leader, said the meeting would give a clear direction to the party workers for the elections and also send a message among the people that JD(U) and RJD — the parties which soon be merging with four other Janata Parivar outfits in a bid to stop BJP from coming to power in the state — do not want development of Bihar.

BJP state president Mangal Pandey said the party expects at least 1.5 lakh booth level workers to attend the political meeting at Gandhi Maidan here. “Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh will give a clarion call to workers to send across the message of betrayal of the 2010 mandate by Nitish Kumar,” said Pandey.
Sushil Modi said: “Janata Parivar merger is all about negative politics. The idea of merger is to stop BJP, and not development of Bihar. Workers will carry this message to the booth level.” On March 1, Nitish had organised a similar function at the same venue.
Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Nand Kishore Yadav said the booth-level meeting had been a BJP’s idea. “Nitish must not think that he pioneered the idea.”
BJP posters and banners have come up at all important locations in the city and the police have also tightened the security and made foolproof evacuation plan in view of Vijaya Dashmi at Gandhi Maidan.
