Flipkart does away with refunds on most products, says ‘all sales final’
E-commerce major Flipkart has tweaked its returns policy on most products, saying that all sales will now be considered final, according to a report by The Economic Times.
The move is likely to be popular with the vendors as it will help rein in operational costs borne to return and refund for a particular product. However, it is likely to be deemed highly inconvenient for customers who flock to e-commerce portals to make their shopping (and returns, if needed) experience convenient.
According to the report, Flipkart has done away with return and refunds for most of its product categories, including, mobile accessories, office equipment, personal care appliances, computer and camera accessories, and smart wearables. Refunds have been stopped for items such as mobile phones, furniture, and appliances too.
Flipkart said, “If a defect is determined within the 10-day period following delivery/installation, a replacement of the same model will be provided at no additional cost,” the new policy says.
However, if there’s no defect confirmed within ten days of delivery, or if a replacement has been provided, the customer will then be directed to the brand’s service centre.
