Pilot yatra brings party rivalries to the fore
The four-day Kisan Nyay Yatra led by PCC chief Sachin Pilot has brought the internal squabbling in the party to the fore. Although the yatra was kicked off on Tuesday with much fanfare from Krishi Upaj Mandi in Baran, senior Congress leaders like Ashok Gehlot and CP Joshi were conspicuous by their absence. Not only these two stalwarts, even many youth leaders who have secret rivalry with Pilot distanced themselves for the 100km yatra. Senior Congress leader and former minister Bharat Singh was absent on the first day of the yatra. Similarly, Mamta Sharma, former chairperson of National Commission for Women (NCW); Ramnarayan Meena, three-time MLA and one-time MP; Govind Sharma, Kota city Congress president; Govind Sharma, Bundi Zila Pramukh; Sonia Gujjar, one and only Congress MLA from Kota region; Ashok Chandana, ex-Bundi Zila Pramukh; and Mahaveer Meena were missing from the yatra.
Meanwhile, other prominent party leaders of the region did the formality by being present at the start of the yatra. Former minister Shanti Dhariwal, Harimohan Sharma, ex-MLA and Bundi district party president CL Premi made only a brief appearance with PCC chief at the press conference.
