City police missing from social media
Chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s directives seemed to be having no impact on the state police. Not with standing her repeated instructions, senior police officers continue to ignore social media. Only a handful of senior officers are connected to public through social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook.
Around 90% officers, be it in the police headquarter or in the range are not active on the social media. Obviously, when the seniors are not using social media why would their subordinates do.
The police officials can also take a leaf out of home minister Gulab Chand Kataria who is comparatively more active not just on Facebook but also on Twitter. The home minister has 7353 followers. The Jaipur police have account on both Twitter and Facebook and they are regularly updated, but when compared to Delhi or Mumbai, the police in Jaipur is quiet behind. It has 10200 followers while Delhi has 1.47 lakh followers. Jaipur police also lag behind in tweets in comparision to Delhi, which has so far tweeted 12500 times, but Jaipur police has tweeted only 1625 times.
