Gujarat elections 2017: Security stepped up for Phase 2
The second phase of the Assembly elections in Gujarat will be held on December 14 and the Ahmedabad police department has stepped up its security by deploying 5,800 officials and 119 companies of Paramilitary force in the city.
The deployment of cops has been done 48 hours before the elections at booths in Ahmedabad. The Ahmedabad rural and city police will be deployed to all the polling stations.
The police deployment will have Deputy Commissioner of Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police, police inspector, police sub-inspector, head constable and constable level officers of Ahmedabad police department. Apart from 119 companies of the Paramilitary force, the team will comprise Central Reserve Police (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Assam Rifles (AR), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Security Guard(NSG) and Border Security Force(BSF) officials.
HR Muliyana, DCP of the control room, said, “Cops from other cities have not been called for the election bandobast.The Ahmedabad police have enough strength to manage the entire process on December 14. There has been more deployment done in the sensitive areas of the city to maintain law and order.” further said Muliyana.
