BWF Dubai Super Series Finals: PV Sindhu breezes past Akane Yamaguchi, remains unbeaten in Group A
Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu notched up a comfortable straight-game win against Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi on Friday to finish at the top in Group A at the BWF Dubai Super Series Finals. Sindhu won 21-9, 21-13 to remain unbeaten in her three group matches.
On Thursday, World No.3 Sindhu took just 36 minutes to outplay Sayaka Sato of Japan 21-13 21-12 and register her second straight win at the $1 million event. She had defeated World No.15 Sayaka twice this season and dominated the match from start to finish at the on-going year-end event.
After breaking away from a 3-3 tie, Sindhu simply surged ahead and continued to extend her lead to win the first game without much ado. The second game was no different as Sindhu never gave her rival a chance to even pose a threat. The Indian kept on marching ahead, even as the Japanese fell far behind.
The 22-year-old Indian defeated World No.9 He Bingjiao of China in her campaign opener.
