First-year student in speeding BMW mows down man in DU’s North Campus
Police, on Friday night, arrested a student who mowed down a 50-year-old man, threw him metres into the air. The impact killed the man on spot. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon, when the student was driving his BMW car in Delhi University’s North Campus.
The student was later released on bail, police said. Police officers said they managed to nab the accused through the help of CCTV footage from the area and by tracing some parts of the car which were found at the spot. The accused is said to be a student of Delhi University’s Khalsa College. The deceased, a vagabond, who has been identified as Shiv Nath, was trying to cross the road when he came in front of the speeding vehicle at around 1:30 pm on Wednesday. Locals told police that the impact of the accident was such that the man was thrown in the air.
