JKNPP calls for 2-day Jammu bandh over Masarat’s release
The BJP, despite being a major partner in the coalition government, was not taken into confidence by the PDP in the matter.
Seeking dismissal of the Mufti Sayeed government over the release of top separatist leader Masarat Alam, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) announced a two-day bandh in Jammu, starting Sunday.
“We have called a two-day bandh from today over the decision of the state government… It is a decision against the nation, how can BJP now call itself a nationalist (party),” JKNPP patron Bhim Singh said Sunday.
Hitting out at the BJP partnered alliance for resorting to “divisive” decision and statements, he said “BJP needs to explain its stand as people have been causing aspersion on their government’s decisions”.

Demanding the state government to be done away with for its decision, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister and RSS should now come out and clarify its stand of their government in J-K.
“Masarat is not a political prisoner. He was involved in the stone pelting agitation directed against the country. How can the BJP-partnered government release him?” he said.
“If BJP says that there was no consent from their side to this decision, is the government in comma or where do they figure in the government decision making,” he said.
JKNPP activists said that they held protest demonstrations in Jammu and Udhampur against the state government over the release of Alam.
