20 swine flu deaths reported in Himachal Pradesh
The total number of deaths has crossed 200 and stares at 207 while total number of cases reported was 3,107.
Himachal Pradesh government on Tuesday said 20 swine flu deaths have been reported in the state, while 79 patients are still admitted in different hospitals of the state.
After leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal raised the issue in the state assembly today and sought government’s attention to an alarming situation in the state, Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur told the House that two deaths were reported on Monday from Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) hospital Shimla. This has raised the toll to 20.
He, however, said there was no cause of panic. The state government has taken due precautions and two main hospitals – Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Shimla and Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical college, Tanda (Kangra) have been equipped with proper stock of medicines and testing kits.
Of the total deaths, the highest number was seven in Shimla followed by six in Kangra district. Districts of Bilaspur, Chamba and Kullu have seen one death each while three have occurred in Solan. No deaths have been reported from snow-covered districts of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti .
Fifty patients who were admitted at the government hospitals have been discharged. In all, 302 samples were tested of which 79 were confirmed as positive.
Health Minister said no doctor or paramedical person have been reported suffering from H1N1 virus.
