CBI arrests FCI officials under graft charges
Searches have been conducted at the residential premises of the accused.
CBI Tuesday arrested an area manager and an assistant of Food Corporation of India for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a farmer for getting rice staked in the depot.
CBI spokesperson said here that a case was registered U/s 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC and section seven of PC Act, 1988 on a complaint wherein it was alleged that 70 trucks/consignments of rice of the complainant (A rice miller) were to be checked and stacked at CWC, FCI Depot, Nabha.
“An Area Manager of FCI, Nabha was allegedly demanding bribe of Rs.50,000 from the complainant for getting his rice checked/stacked in the depot. CBI laid a trap, wherein the Area Manager and Assistant(Grade-I) were caught while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant. Searches have been conducted at the residential premises of the accused,” CBI spokesperson said here today.
The spokesperson said both the arrested accused will be produced tomorrow in the Competent Court at Patiala(Punjab).
