Two women Maoists surrender in Orissa
Two women Maoist commanders from Chhattisgarh, including the one who served as bodyguard to a central committee member, on Monday surrendered before the Orissa Police in Kalahandi. The surrender comes soon after an exchange of fire between the Maoists and the security forces in the area.
The two Maoist leaders have been identified as Phulabati alias Mithila(30) and Rukmati alias Ramshila(28). They were carrying a reward Rs 4 lakh each on their head. Rukmati was also a member of the protection team of Murli, a central committee member and divisional secretary of Mainpur Nupada division.
Meanwhile, the Maoists Sunday night burnt down four vehicles at the camp of a private construction company in Nuapada district.
The vehicles and a tractor were in the camp of a contractor entrusted with the Lower Indra Irrigation Project.
