Bank GM says SP MLA ‘detained, assaulted’ him
The officiating general manager (GM) of Urban Co-operative Bank has accused Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA from Bisauli, Ashutosh Maurya, of detaining and assaulting him Sunday when he refused to follow the leader’s diktats. Maurya has denied the charges.
GM Sachin Agarwal lodged a complaint with police seeking lodging of a case against the MLA and three bank officials, Deepak Saxena, Sanjay Kumar Gupta and Ajay Kumar Goel, but the police registered the incident as a non-cognizable report (NCR) on Monday night. Deepak and Ajay are directors of the bank while Sanjay is a deputy Manager.
While Agarwal could not be contacted, the MLA denied the allegations. He admitted that Agarwal had visited his residence Sunday to discuss about a meeting in the bank scheduled for March 20.

The MLA said the GM left after some time. Maurya claimed he did not know how the GM suffered injuries or why he has lodged the complaint.
Police said that Agarwal mentioned in the complaint that the MLA had called him to his residence on Sunday evening and reportedly asked him to bring some papers from the bank. When Agarwal told the MLA that the bank was closed on Sunday and that he will be able to bring the documents on Monday only, the latter allegedly hurled abuses and assaulted him. The three bank officials who were also present there allegedly instigated the MLA against him.
