Documents leak: RIL confirms its officer was summoned

Sources confirmed that the officer summoned was vice president, finance, K V Mohanan. He is expected to visit the CBI headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Tuesday confirmed that one of its officers had been summoned by the CBI, which is probing alleged leaks and sale of confidential government documents from the ministries of finance and commerce and industry to corporate houses.

“A notice to witness has been served to one of our officers today. The company is ascertaining the facts and will be able to decide a course of action after his interaction with the authorities,” an RIL spokesperson said.

Sources confirmed that the officer summoned was vice president, finance, K V Mohanan. He is expected to visit the CBI headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The CBI has also summoned prominent chartered accountant Rajendra Chitale, who is a partner in Mumbai-based firm Chitale and Associates.

Meanwhile, a Delhi court on Tuesday remanded five persons arrested in the case in two days’ CBI custody. CBI sought three days for custodial interrogation of three arrested government employees – Ashok Kumar Singh, an under secretary in the department of disinvestment; Lalaram Sharma, a section officer in the department of economic affairs and Daljeet Singh, an upper divisional clerk in the department of industrial policy and promotion – along with Mumbai-based CA-cum-consultant Khemchand Gandhi and Paresh Chimanlal Budhdev, a partner in Chitale and Associates.
