Karnataka CM announces CBI probe into death of IAS officer DK Ravi

The Karnataka government has announced a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the death of IAS officer DK Ravi, who was found hanging at his home in Bengaluru last week. The announcement was made by Chief Minister K Siddaramaiah in the Assembly on Monday.
The decision was taken after an interim investigation report by the CID was placed in the legislature by the state government.
The 36-year-old IAS officer had earned a reputation for taking on powerful land and real estate operators.
The government has been maintaining that Ravi committed suicide for “personal reasons” and not due to professional pressure stemming from his efforts to bring tax evaders and land grabbers to book as the additional commissioner for commercial taxes enforcement and earlier as deputy commissioner of the Kolar district in south Karnataka.
