Supreme Court reserves verdict on pleas against NJAC
The Supreme Court Tuesday reserved its verdict on maintainability of petitions challenging validity of a constitutional amendment and the NJAC Act, meant to scrap the collegium system of appointing judges.
A bench led by Justice A R Dave reserved the judgment after Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi wrapped up his rejoinder arguments stating that a challenge to the amendment and the National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) would ensue only after the law is notified and brought into force.

He was responding to submissions made by senior advocate F S Nariman, who represented one of the PIL petitioners, that the NJAC Act could not have been passed without first amending the Constitution.
