Sharad Yadav backs judge’s impeachment

Just days after he found himself at the receiving end for his remarks about appearance of women, Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav on Thursday made an appeal to all parties to come together for the impeachment of a Madhya Pradesh High Court judge, accused of the sexual harassment of a female additional district and sessions judge.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Mohammad Hamid Ansari has admitted a motion for impeaching Justice S K Gangele of the Madhya Pradesh High Court following a petition signed by 58 MPs.

Flanked by lawyers K T S Tulsi and Indira Jaising, Yadav said the move was initiated because of the failure of the judiciary to act against the judge. He said the safety and security of women at work places, particularly in the judiciary, was of an immense importance.
Tulsi said it was the first time the process for the removal of a judge had started on account of sexual harassment. The earlier cases pertained to corruption.
