Sonia Gandhi on Giriraj racist remark: Would not like to comment on people who have a narrow mindset
Reacting for the first time after BJP MP Giriraj’s Singh’s ‘white skin’ remark, Sonia Gandhi on Thursday said, “Would not like to comment on people who have a narrow mindset.”
Sonia Gandhi’s statement comes a day after Giriraj Singh’s racist barb on the Congress party President when he asked whether Congress would have accepted Sonia Gandhi’s leadership had she not been white-skinned. He had told journalists,” “Had Rajiv Gandhi married a Nigerian woman and if she was not a white-skinned woman, would the Congress have then accepted her (Sonia’s) leadership?”
A group of Congress workers on Thursday staged a protest against Union Minister Giriraj Singh outside a residential complex where he lives, slamming the BJP leader’s remarks against Sonia Gandhi. Shouting slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP and Singh, Congress workers gathered outside Vitthal Bhai Patel House complex.
Criticising Union Minister Giriraj Singh for his controversial comments on Congress President Sonia Gandhi, RJD President Lalu Prasad had said he had crossed borders of indecency and demanded action against him. “He should be made to wear bangles, vermilion, bindi, and his face should be blackened as he has crossed borders of indecency,” he told reporters after arriving here from New Delhi.
