Wedding ritual leads to riots in Vadodara
A clash broke out between members of two communities near Vadodara’s Sarasiya Lake area in the old city, shortly after 11pm. According to the police, heavy stone pelting began after a stone was hurled by unidentified persons at a group of women immersing a “paper boat” as part of a pre-wedding ritual.
A full blown clash ensued. Personnel from the City Police station rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.
An officer said, “We are trying to bring the situation under control. Tear gas shells will be used to disperse crowds if needed.”
