In Telangana encounter, two armed men shot dead by police
Police in Nalgonda district of Telangana shot dead two armed men in an early morning encounter in which one constable also died on the spot. Police had launched a massive manhunt on Thursday morning after two cops were shot dead by two assailants at a bus station in Suryapet. Today morning, police gave chase to two persons on a motorcycle who were suspected to be involved in the Thursday incident.
After a nearly two-hour chase, cops cornered them in Janakipuram village where the assailants used at least four villagers as shields and opened fire at a police jeep killing a constable K Nagaraju who was driving the jeep. As Nagaraju collapsed on the steering wheel, the assailants tried to flee but armed special police in the jeep got out and exchanged fire killing them on the spot.

Director General of Police Anurag Sharma who reached the spot said that based on available information the duo are suspected to be from Uttar Pradesh. Officials said that they suspect the assailants were not just common highway robbers but could be hired killers. While Constable Nagaraju died in the encounter, sub-inspector P Siddaiah is critical with bullet injuries in his chest and head. Another inspector and one circle inspector were also injured.
Police in the entire Telangana region was on high alert after two persons fired at a police search party at the Suryapet bus station in the wee hours of Thursday. Constable K Lingaiah and Home Guard P Mahesh Kumar died on the spot when two unidentified persons opened fire at the police party led by Suryapet Circle Inspector Y Moghaliah who was also injured. Another Home Guard also suffered bullet wounds. The police party was conducting search operation at the Suryapet bus station after receiving reports that inter-state gangs of dacoits were using bus services to travel between Hyderabad and Vijayawada.
