Will pursue cause of Hashimpura victims, says UP CM Akhilesh Yadav
Akhilesh Yadav said the incident was one which had never happened in the country before.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said on Saturday that his government would strongly pursue the cause of the survivors and families of the victims of the 1987 Hashimpura massacre.
Speaking to mediapersons after laying the foundation stone for the Mulayam Singh Yadav Medical College and Hospital at Lalpur in Meerut, Akhilesh said the incident was one which had never happened in the country before. “The government and the party leaders will soon take a decision on the Hashimpura incident,” he said.

A Delhi court recently acquitted 16 PAC personnel in the case. Sources said the UP government now plans to challenge the verdict in Delhi High Court. The government has also sent a letter to the local administration, seeking ground details. “We have received a letter from the government on the issue. The ADM (City) has been directed to submit a report after verifying the truth,” said District Magistrate Pankaj Yadav. A delegation of Hashimpura victims and their families recently met the CM in New Delhi who assured them of the government’s support. ens
