PM Narendra Modi questioned integrity of courts, says Congress
Condemning Modi’s remarks about the judiciary, he said “no PM in independent India has ever commented on the impartiality of the judiciary”.
The Congress on Monday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “influencing” the judicial system by asking the judiciary to introspect whether “five-star activists” were driving it. It said Modi’s remarks were “uncharitable” and amounted to questioning the “integrity and impartiality” of courts in the country.
The Congress also slammed the PM for choosing to address a joint conference of chief ministers and chief justices from across the country on Easter Day. “Will Narendra Modi convene a conference on Diwali, Dussehra or Holi.
Couldn’t it have been held on the April 6? Couldn’t it have been held on April 4? Earlier, he had called meetings on December 25. And now he has done it again on Easter Day. This only reflects his mindset,” Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh said.

AAP attacks PM
Lashing out at Modi for his “five-star activists” remark, the AAP said that it was an attempt to suppress the “right thinking voices” and also a signal to officers to act tough on NGOs and people who raise their voice against the government. The party said that in order to avert a UPA like debacle, Modi is trying to orient different arms of the system against “honest” and “fearless” voices of criticism.
