10 cr BJP cadres to counter attack of Opposition parties: Amit Shah
“In a country where there are nearly 1,600 parties, BJP is the only party which has internal democracy, which conducts new membership drive and organisational election every two years,” Shah said.
The BJP is planning a mega outreach programme, beginning May, to counter the “misinformation campaign” against the Modi government and to strengthen the ideological foundation of the party, said party chief Amit Shah.
Urging the party to be united against the Opposition’s campaign, Shah, while addressing a workshop of its state convenors for the Mahasampark Abhiyan, said: “Whosoever tries to spread lies against us, the 10 crore members of the party will fan out in the country and tell the truth to the people. The public outreach has the biggest impact and our 10 crore members will reach out to the 100 crore people in the country.”
Terming the mega outreach programme as “samudra manthan,” the BJP chief said the exercise — in three phases — will provide a platform for transforming an ordinary party worker into a political leader. The party expects that once the three phases — registration of members, contact programme and training programme — are over, the party will have a digital bank with details of more than 10 crore workers and 15 lakh dedicated party workers. The second phase will start from May 1 to July 31, the next phase will begin by August and will be followed by the organisational elections.
While the party has adopted a new electronic model for enrollment of new members through missed calls which is about to reach 10 crore, the membership will be completed with checks and balances, Shah told party leaders.
With the BJP preparing for key elections in Bihar, West Bengal and UP, the party chief said ideological strengthening of the party would be crucial. “We believe in reaching out to the last man in the line and helping him stand among the first in line,” he said.
“In a country where there are nearly 1,600 parties, BJP is the only party which has internal democracy, which conducts new membership drive and organisational election every two years,” Shah said.
During the campaign, every new member will be contacted personally to help turn him or her into an active worker. Two booklets — “An overview of party’s growth so far: a journey from S P Mookherjee to Narendra Modi” and “Governance focused on development and welfare of the poor under Modi government” — would be handed out to the new members.
