Officer who harassed woman at IGI airport held
The Delhi Police have arrested an immigration officer posted at Indira Gandhi International Airport, who had allegedly harassed a woman passenger last month. The accused, Vinod Kumar, had allegedly asked the Bengaluru- based victim sexually suggestive questions while checking for documents when she was on her way to Hong Kong and was in Delhi during transit.
MI Haider, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Indira Gandhi International Airport) said, “Kumar was arrested last night after our team went to Bengaluru, where we got the victim’s statement recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the CrPc with her having corroborated the sequence of events.”
Police officers also said that Kumar was then released on bail.
The FIR based on which Kumar was arrested was on the basis of an email complaint sent by the woman about the incident that allegedly took place on March 19. The woman was her on way to Hong Kong.
It has been registered under sections 354A, 354D, and 506 of the IPC. An FIR was registered in this connection at IGIA Police station.
