BJP national president Amit Shah on Thursday came down heavily on Rahul Gandhi for his attack on the Narendra Modi government and wondered what the Congress vice-president knew of poverty when he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
“Rahul-baba has just returned from leave and is making noises against the BJP government by trying to raise voice on behalf of farmers and the poor. But what does he know about poverty when he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth?” the BJP chief, while addressing a meeting of party workers in Itanagar, said.
Shah also hit out at the Congress by saying that all that the UPA government had left the country was in a series of scams, including the spectrum scam and the coal block allocation scam. “Instead, look at the BJP government. It has brought down inflation in less than eleven months,” the BJP president said.
Shah also expressed happiness that a small state like Arunachal Pradesh had registered over one lakh BJP members, and said this would help instal a BJP government in the state as early as possible. “I am happy that the BJP is today considered the biggest party in the world. But what is equally important to note is that a small state like Arunachal Pradesh has enrolled one lakh members,” he said.
The BJP president did not make any direct attack on Nabam Tuki’s Congress government in Arunachal Pradesh.
Instead, he focused on poor utilisation of funds meant for development, and said that had such funds been spent properly, there would not have been any poverty and backwardness in the state.
