Dancer shot dead after she refuses to perform

A woman dancer who was performing at a wedding ceremony in Bairiya police station area of Ballia district in the wee hours of Thursday, was allegedly shot dead by a friend of the groom for refusing to perform on a song demanded by him. Police have arrested accused Babloo Kumar, a property dealer from Bihar’s Ara.

Police said Peehu, 23, a resident of West Bengal, was peforming in Daya Chhapra where the baraat had arrived from Ara district of Bihar.

They added that the incident took place when Babloo, 32, asked Peehu to dance on a Bhojpuri song.

“The girl accepted his demand twice, but he continued to ask her to dance on the same song again. When the girl did not pay heed, Kumar shot her in the chest with a countrymade pistol,” said Suresh Chandra Rawat, Circle Officer, Bairiya.
