Kerala Congress chief V M Sudheeran criticises state govt’s functioning
“Congress ministers should act as examples for their cabinet colleagues from other parties by attending office more days in a week. The ministers have to improve the functioning of their offices,” said Sudheeran.
The president of Congress’s Kerala unit, V M Sudheeran, on Saturday openly expressed his disapproval about the functioning of the state government, led by his party colleague and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. The Congress leader also warned the party that it would face a setback in the state elections if the government failed to adopt corrective steps.
Sudheeran’s open criticism against the government is in sharp contrast to comments by Chandy, who has repeatedly claimed that the functioning of his government has not been marred by either controversies or corruption charges.
After a meeting of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), the state unit president claimed that the government is not moving on the right track.

“The ministers should stay in the state capital at least four days in a week. There are ministers who leave the state capital soon after the weekly cabinet meeting. At least the Congress ministers should act as examples for their cabinet colleagues from other parties by attending office more days in a week. The ministers have to improve the functioning of their offices,” said Sudheeran.
Appointments in government offices should be made more transparent, said the Congress leader, alleging that corrupt officials were continuing in key posts irrespective of the change in government. A critical analysis should be made about this situation and corrective steps should be taken, said Sudheeran.
Last week, in critical comments seemingly aimed at the state government, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala had said that corrective steps were necessary if the party wanted to retain power in Kerala.
