Blasts in West Bengal: A timeline

More than 20 people were injured today in a low-intensity blast on a local train at Titagarh railway station, about 30 kilometres from Kolkata in West Bengal. Police sources say that the explosives, which was being carried in a bag by some passengers, may have gone off accidentally. The incident is reported to have occurred around 3:50 am in the morning.
The blast is yet another addition to a list of explosions that have taken place in the state in recent times.
Here is a timeline of some of those blasts.
May 10, 2015: Two women were injured after an explosion inside a house in Burdwan district. The explosion on Saturday took place around 8.30 am. According to the police, the house was used to stock crude bombs.
May 8, 2015: An explosion at an illegal cracker factory in West Midnapore district claimed 12 lives and injuring four others. The factory owner, Ranjan Maity — a Trinamool Congress block-level leader — was arrested in the incident’s aftermath. “I live about 200 metres away from the factory and the explosion shook my house. There was fire all over. This morning, we found parts of bodies on top of the trees, about 100 metres away from the blast spot. The workshop has been completely demolished,” said an eye-witness.
April 5, 2015: Police concurred that a minor blast at the Belur Math, a popular pilgrim centre in Howrah district, was made by chocolate bombs, a firecracker used especially during Diwali. The blast, which injured none but shattered windows, had created panic among the devotees.
January 2, 2015: Two people were injured in a bomb blast at Borogoria village in Burdwan district of West Bengal. The ruling Trinamool Congress claimed that the two people were party supporters and that it was BJP supporters who hurled bomb at their men.
October 2, 2014: Two suspected terrorists were killed and a third was injured after a blast inside a house in Khagragarh locality of Burdwan district. Several high-profile terrorists linked to the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were arrested in the months following the incident.
