Anna Hazare to auction old Scorpio to raise money for new vehicle

Social activist Anna Hazare is all set to auction the SUV he had been using as he plans to generate funds for a new vehicle. His office said that Anna needed a new vehicle because he was suffering from back pain and that travelling in the eight-year-old SUV, a Mahindra Scorpio W CRDE, was only aggravating it.

The SUV is owned by Hazare’s Swami Vivekanand Krutudnata Nidhi, a trust formed to govern the funds received by him by way of awards.

As per a statement circulated by his aides on social media, the vehicle has quite a few feathers in its cap.

“It was this vehicle that witnessed Annaji’s lonely yet successful fight against the corrupt ministers in 2007 and 2009… This vehicle took Anna from place to place when he headed the Jan Lokpal movement,” it read.
