Man axes wife to death in money dispute

The accused, identified as Aziz Khan, made a call to the police control room (PCR) claiming that he killed his wife and was now going to surrender at the nearest police station.

A 41-year-old woman was axed to death allegedly by her husband over an argument about money on Wednesday morning. The incident was reported from Outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala area, police said.

According to police, after the alleged crime, the man, identified as Aziz Khan, made a call to the police control room (PCR) claiming that he killed his wife and was now going to surrender at the nearest police station. But, police said, he never surrendered and is still absconding. A team has been sent to Kanpur in search of the accused.

“The incident occurred on Wednesday morning. Khan his wife Tahira were at home. Their younger son Imran had gone to the gym and their elder son lives in Kanpur. The couple was fighting over some money issue and was not speaking to each other for the past two weeks. Around 9 am, they again had an argument and in a fit of rage Aziz brought an axe from the rear of the house and attacked his wife,” an officer said.

“After receiving the PCR call, police reached at the spot and found the woman lying in a pool of blood. The axe was lying next to her. A forensic team was called to the spot and they have sent the weapon for analysis,” the officer said. Tahira’s body has been sent for an autopsy and the report is awaited.

After registering a case of murder, police started their probe and came to know that Khan hails from Kanpur and runs a tailor shop in Roopali Enclave Colony of Kanjhawala for the past eight years.

“Investigators are questioning Khan’s family members for clues on his whereabouts. Imran, the couple’s younger son is being counselled and questioned,” the officer said.
