R K Pachauri moves court to return to TERI office
Pachauri has moved the Delhi court seeking modification of its March 21 order which had granted him protection from arrest on the condition that he would not enter the TERI office till the investigation is complete.
The energy and Resources Institute (TERI) Director-General R K Pachauri, who is facing charges of sexual harassment and is currently on leave, has moved the Delhi sessions court seeking modification of the court’s earlier order and permission to resume work from TERI premises.
Pachauri has moved the Delhi court seeking modification of its March 21 order which had granted him protection from arrest on the condition that he would not enter the TERI office till the investigation is complete. The court will take up the plea for consideration on Saturday.
In the plea moved before the court of Additional Sessions Judge Raj Kumar Tripathi, Pachauri said in his plea that the complainant was not posted at TERI premises and therefore there shall be no occasion of him “contacting or attempting to influence or threaten” the complainant.

Pachauri further stated that “because there is no evidence, whether documentary or oral, which the police is required to collect from the TERI premises” and that since the March 21 order, “the police has never visited the TERI premises for the purpose of investigation which entitles reasonable inference that no investigation is to be done at TERI premises” — hence he be permitted to resume his work in TERI premises.
Pachauri has also stated that the condition imposed by the court “is in teeth of Article 19(1)(g) of the Constitution which accords fundamental right of occupation to every individual” and that he shall “suffer irreparable loss both of reputation and financial” if he is not permitted to commence his occupation from TERI premises.
