Pune pizza delivery boy arrested for ‘molesting’ two minors

Police have arrested a 22-year-old pizza delivery boy for allegedly molesting two six-year-old girls in the lift of a residential building in Pimple Saudagar in Pune.Police identified the suspect as Nikhil Prakash Shinde, a delivery boy with Domino’s Pizza. Assistant inspector M P Sonavane said, “The incident came to light when two girls told their family members about the pizza delivery boy who had touched them inappropriately in the lift. We now know that Shinde called the two girls, who were playing in the open space in the building premises, into the lift and molested them on the way up. When the girls told their families, they went to the Domino’s shop where Shinde was identified.”
Shinde was produced before the court on Sunday and was remanded in police custody.
Harneet Singh Rajpal, senior vice-president (Marketing) Domino’s Pizza India, said in a statement, “Jubilant FoodWorks Limited (company that has master franchise of Domino’s Pizza in India) and Domino’s Pizza would like to state that it has been brought to our notice that one of our delivery boys… has been accused of conducting himself in an unlawful behaviour, while on duty. This is totally an isolated one-off incident and we are aghast with its occurrence. We are extremely saddened and shocked by the misbehavior and will take all necessary steps to ensure that the affected and their families get justice.” The statement said the accused, who had joined the outlet two days ago as a weekend part-timer, has been sacked.
