Delhi confidential: Bound for Sweden
She is not among ministers lined up to talk about the government’s achievements in the past one year, but Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi has plenty of other things to focus on. She is set to go to Sweden to inaugurate Namaste Stockholm, a festival organised by the Indian embassy to showcase India as a culture and tourism hub. She will also participate in a discussion on gender diversity.
Date deliberations
With South Block still deciding on the dates for PM Narendra Modi‘s visit to Bangladesh next month, Dhaka’s only request is that the visit should be in the first half of June, before Ramzan starts. New Delhi has taken note of the request, and is now looking at dates between June 5 and 10.

Bihar balance
BJP chief Amit Shah is facing a challenge ahead of the Bihar elections. Shah is likely to have a tough time keeping his allies in the NDA satisfied during discussions on seat sharing. While Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Samata Party says it would like to contest from 75 seats, Ram Vilas Paswan‘s Lok Jan Shakti Party is keen on fighting from 70 seats for the 243-member Assembly. BJP leaders said the party might also have to worry about keeping Jitan Ram Manjhi satisfied.
Opp campaign
The Congress plans to hold more than 100 press conferences in state capitals and important centres in the next five days to “highlight” the government’s failures. To start with, 20 press conferences were held Wednesday across the country. Some Congress leaders want Rahul Gandhi, who rarely addresses press conferences, to address one to take on the government.
