The Election Commission cancelled the bypoll scheduled to be held on Wednesday after Income Tax raids in Chennai found money was distributed to voters.
The by-elections in RK Nagar became necessary after the death of former chief minister J. Jayalalithaa, who represented it for two terms.
Meanwhile, the Sasikala faction of AIADMK called the EC’s move wrong. “Wrong decision, even EC does not want me to win. They can delay but cant deny,” said TTV Dinakaran.
