Kulbhushan row: ‘Whenever India needs me, I am available,’ says Tharoor after Swaraj denies asking for help
Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday said he would maintain silence on the row over providing help in the Kulbhushan Jadhav issue. After reports did the rounds that the former under-secretary general at the United Nations would help with drafting a resolution on Kulbhushan Yadav, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had tweeted that this was untrue.
Earlier in the day, responding to an article by a leading English channel, Sushma Swaraj had said that the reports were completely false and mischievously planted in the media.
However, when the Congress MP was asked to clarify on the media reports by a twitter user, Tharoor said, “I believe one shouldn’t talk about what was said and done in private. Others may have their reasons to tweet. I have maintained my silence, and dignity.
Further stating that he will be available whenever India needs him, he said, “I place national interests over political ones or personal pride.”
