Delhi’s CP tells HMA: We need 4,000 more cops
In a bid to enhance security for VVIPs as well as improve the functioning of the force and more effective policing, Delhi Commissioner of Police (CP) Amulya Patnaik has requested 4,000 more police personnel from Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as well as the sanction of the same as soon as possible.
Recently, Patnaik gave a detailed presentation to the ministry about the requirement of additional forces explaining the reasons for his demands as well as the changes that one would find after the force adds more men on the ground.
Sources said that Patnaik, in the meeting, pointed out that they wanted more manpower for better security for new court complexes, security installations, and metro stations.
A document accessed by DNA, which was used in the meeting, stated, “New sanction will address the problem of diverting staff court duties, VVIP duties, hospital, railway, metro and interstate bus services duties.”
“Better and timely management of police control room (PCR) fleet, better and timely investigation of cases over two lakh cases registered in 2016, and to strengthen integrated checking and patrolling by local police, traffic and PCR at border check posts,” the document added.
