Will not stand anyone’s arrogance: Charu Nigam
A young lady Indian Police Service (IPS) officer on Monday caused embarrassment to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath when she openly dared a ruling party Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), close to Yogi and from CM’s hometown Gorakhpur, through a tweet stating that “being a woman officer she will not stand anyone’s arrogance.”
The tweet by a young Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), posted at Chiluataal Police Station in Gorakhpur, has caused a flutter in the political as well as the bureaucratic circles in the state. The Opposition parties have sought action against the erring BJP MLA and protection to the lady officer.
Charu Nigam, an IPS officer of 2013 batch, tweeted on Monday to vent her grouse against the alleged misbehaviour of a BJP MLA from Gorakhpur Dr Radha Mohan Das Agarwal. After a clash on Sunday between the police and an agitating mob, Agarwal had accused the lady officer of lathi-charging peacefully demonstrating women, including a pregnant lady and children. When Nigam sought to clarify the charges levelled against her, Agarwal had allegedly yelled at her and had asked her “to shut up and mind her own business”.
