UP govt scraps ‘illogical’ projects mooted by SP, BSP
Authorities in Noida and Greater have put ambitious projects of both the BSP and SP regime on hold. UP Industry Minister Satish Mahana confirmed to DNA that the projects which were proposed by past governments and have no logical use, will be scrapped.
Some of the previous projects of the BSP’s and SP’s regime included the Metro Rail from City Centre to Noida Extension, heliport, convention centre, a Night Safari in Greater Noida. After change in regime, newly appointed officers have examined the financial health of the Noida and Greater Noida Authority and found that these authorities are reeling under immense financial losses. To add to their woes, crores were spent for studies to look at the feasibility of these projects.
Mahana said that he believed that these projects were useless from the public’s point of view.
Giving an example, he said, “The interstate bus depot is a useless project opening in the middle of the city. This will create only chaos in the city. Similarly, parking projects were not properly planned.”
Sources say that an estimated 150 developers’ projects are in the defaulters list. Noida Authority has to collect an estimated Rs 25 thousand crore from defaulter developers and alottees. Similarly, Greater Noida …read more
