Jewar gang-rape victims attempt to commit suicide
Fed up with state government and police inaction, all the four rape victims in the Jewar case attempted to commit suicide on Sunday. One of the victims tried to hang herself, while the others tried to self immolate themselves and murder their children.
All four women were rescued by their families.
In the first choice, police sources revealed that the woman lives with her husband, son, daughter-in-law and daughter. The family live in a rented accommodation.
Police sources said that the victim’s husband told them that he was sleeping on the roof at night when the incident took place. He said that his wife woke up from sleep at around 3:00 am and found a scarf in the room with which she tried to hang herself with the ceiling fan.
“My family woke up for seher (early breakfast for roza) and my daughter noticed that she was attempting suicide and raised an alarm. Following this, other family members rushed in and rescued her,” he said.
After being rescued, the victim’s husband told police that his wife was in mental and physical trauma. He added that the police inaction and suspicion over rape had led her to this step.
