Student’s future uncertain as varsity decision yet pending
A few days after DNA highlighted the plight of a final year engineering student of Mumbai University, after it failed to issue her three-year-old mark sheet citing a technical issue, the University is yet to decide the fate of the student.
While it has recently written to the student acknowledging the error in the earlier result and has amended the result from ‘passed’ to ‘failed’, the student has only been allowed to write her final semester exams on a provisional basis until the University’s Board of Examination takes a call on the issue.
A letter dated May 29, issued to the Yadavrao Tasgaonkar College in Karjat, where the student is studying, states, “The University permits the student to appear for the exam provisionally and requires the student to sign an undertaking that the decision taken in the issue would be agreed upon.”
Back in 2015, the student had failed to clear the Engineering Mechanics paper in the second semester and had reappeared for the exam in May that year.
