Pondy CM seeks apology from LG Kiran Bedi
The ongoing war of words between Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi reached a new low on Wednesday with Narayanswamy daring Bedi in the Assembly to prove her charges of corruption and malpractices in postgraduate admissions in private medical colleges. Bedi, on the other hand, met President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Minister of State Jitendra Singh to apprise them of her achievements in the first year in office.
In a suo moto statement in the Puducherry Assembly, the CM said that the Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC) has strictly adhered to the rules, including orders from the Supreme Court, in conducting counseling for admission to PG courses in private medical colleges for 2017-18. He said that for the first time, the government has ensured admission to 50 per cent seats in private and deemed universities under the state quota in a fair and transparent manner.
In Delhi, during her meeting with the President and the PM, Bedi presented the President with a Raj Nivas Workbook, along with data on her achievements.
