Stephen’s cut-off sees slight dip
Delhi University’s St. Stephen’s College on Wednesday released its first cut-off list for admissions to various undergraduate courses with the highest for English (Honours) and Economics (Honours) at 98.5% for Commerce students.
In a relief to students, the cut-off has seen a marginal drop for some courses. The cut-off for English (H) is 0.5 percentage points down from last year’s 99% for Commerce students.
Stephen’s conducts a separate application and selection process. All other DU colleges will declare their cut-offs on June 20.
While English (H) continues to remain the first choice of students, Economics (H) also attracts a large crowd. The cut-off for Economics (H) is up by 0.25 percentage points from 98.25% in 2016.
“This is not surprising that both these courses have highest cut-offs as they are the most popular not only in Stephen’s but in all Delhi University colleges. But there are very few seats available for these courses as against the demand,” said Nandita Narain, an English professor at Stephen’s.
“The college offers only 30 seats for English (H) — 50 per cent reserved for candidates applying under different categories,” she said.
