It was a probe without evidence, says Justice BN Srikrishna
Justice BN Srikrishna (retired), who authored the report on the 1993 Mumbai blasts, on Friday said that the investigations were carried out without any evidence.
Speaking to a section of the media, Justice Srikrishna, who headed the one-man commission, said, “The recommendations were not implemented in full and I have said this a lot of time. There were plenty of cases which should have been really investigated.”
“Most of the cases they had investigated either had no evidence or were true but undetected. Is this the way you investigate cases? And when questioned, it was stated that it was not possible to find out anything more,” he was quoted as saying.
His report stated that the blasts were a reaction to the riots that had plagued the city. “Tiger Memon, the key figure in the serial bomb blasts case, and his family, had suffered extensively during the riots and therefore can be said to have had deep-rooted motive for revenge.”
“There was a large amorphous body of angry, frustrated and desperate Muslims keen to seek revenge for the perceived injustice and atrocities perpetrated… and it is this sense of revenge which spawned the conspiracy of the serial blasts,” the report …read more
