Lutyens’ Delhi all set for Yoga Day, 18k to participate

Hectic preparations are underway in Lutyens’ Delhi for the International Yoga Day, to be observed on June 21. The radial and circle roads of Connaught Place (CP), Nehru Park, Lodhi Garden, Talkatora Garden, and Children’s Park at India Gate are being decked up for the event, in which over 18,000 people are expected to participate on Wednesday.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has set the stage at six radial circles of CP for the event., wherein Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal and Union Minister for Urban Development (MoUD) M Venkaiah Naidu, will do yoga.

The civic body has been organising rehearsals for the event at all venues. Besides, week-long yoga classes have been organised in the morning at all subways, parks, and gardens in the area. The spots were also decorated with illustrations of yoga asanas or postures.

“We had started the rehearsals for the event a week in advance. We are expecting over 18,000 people to turn up in Lutyens’ Delhi on the Yoga Day. The event is being organised at a large scale and we hope to see a large number of participants and enthusiasts,” a senior official said.
