No one sought my statement in Naroda Patiya case: Surendra Kodnani
“I did not give my statement in Naroda Patiya case as I had not received any summons,” said Dr Surendra Kodnani, husband of accused Maya Kodnani, during the hearing in Naroda gaam riots case. His cross-examination concluded on Monday. Further hearing in the case has been kept for July 14.
During cross-examination by special public prosecutor SC Shah, Dr Surendra said that Mayaben had left home at 7.30 am on February 28, 2002 and he saw her directly at 5 pm when she returned home. He submitted that their hospital is open round the clock and hence it is incorrect to say that it was opened at 8am. Asked if the nurse handled operations of the hospital in absence of Dr Maya Kodnani and her working partner Dr Dhaval Shah, he replied in affirmative. He said that he was not aware that Lata Gurjar was the nurse on duty on the day of riots as he had received a phone call from Hasuben, the other female employee of the hospital.
