13 arrested workers sent to judicial custody
All 13 people arrested in connection with the ruckus at Noida’s Mahagun Moderne society in Sector-78 on Thursday — after reports that a domestic help, Zohra Bibi, employed in the building had gone missing — were sent to judicial custody on Friday.
The accused were produced in front of the magistrate on charges of rioting and vandalising property in violence that broke out at the housing society.
“Arrests were made on the rioting case lodged against them by the security in-charge. Their houses were raided on Wednesday night, after which several men were rounded up for questioning and have been sent to judicial custody,” said Avneesh Kumar, Circle Officer City-3.
Meanwhile, Gharelu Kamgar Union, an NGO, claimed that there were many lapses in the investigation.
“Police arrested innocent labourers whereas no case has been registered against Zohra’s employers. This is highly condemnable,” said Maya John, convener of the NGO.
