Kiran Maheshwari issues guidelines for RU polls
In all the universities and colleges of the state, there will be direct elections for four posts of the student wing, which includes President, Vice President, General Secretary and Joint Secretary, informed Kiran Maheshwari, Rajasthan education minister, while issuing the guidelines for conducting elections this year.
Maheshwari further instructed that students will only be elected for the post of class representatives at different educational departments, hence, removing the tradition of election of four posts at departmental level. In addition to this, the head of the concerned department will nominate a committee for the respected branch on the basis of merit.
It is also to be noted that students studying for research programs like M Phil, Ph D will only be able to contest the election for the position of Research Representative and only research students can vote for this position. Also, first year students can only stand for the position of class representative and not other posts.
The maximum age of contesting for all posts will be 25 years and for research students it will be 28 years. All the contesting candidates will be able to setup their camp office with the permission of the university or college administration only. Election campaigning …read more
