Addressing the media ahead of the upcoming Sri Lanka tour, newly appointed coach Ravi Shastri clarified the role of a coach and said, ” Shastris and Kumbles will come and go, the fabric of the team will remain.”
Ravi Shastri took the position of head coach of Team India from Anil Kumble after a lot of drama. Talking about the fresh stint, Shastri added, “I have matured since the last Sri Lanka tour. I have matured immensely in the last two weeks and I come with no baggage.”
After giving credit to the players for the success in Test cricket, Shastri also defended bowling coach Bharat Arun’s selection. He said, “Bharath Arun knows these boys better than I do. He has been there in the system for more than 15 years.”
India and Sri Lanka will play 3 Tests, 5ODIs and one T20I during the long series beginning at the end of July.
