Fantastic Fest 2017 will feature two Stephen King adaptations and a zombie musical
Austin’s annual Fantastic Fest is known for being a weird, raunchy, and shameless celebration of genre and horror movies, and this year’s lineup looks like it’ll continue that tradition. Festival organizers just announced the first wave of films slotted to play during the fest, several of which will be making their world or US premieres.
The lineup so far includes 1922, a movie based on Stephen King’s 2010 novella about a teenager who murders his mother; Takashi Miike’s Blade of the Immortal, an adaptation of the popular manga series; and a zombie holiday musical called Anna and the Apocalypse. Gerald’s Game, also based on a Stephen King book, will make its US premiere, as will Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Killing of a Sacred Deer, starring…
