BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj defends rape convicted Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh
In a shocking statement BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj has defended Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who was convicted in a rape case by a CBI court in Panchkula on Friday. The judgment, holds Singh guilty of raping two female followers. The quantum of sentence will be pronounced on August 28.
The punishment can be a jail term not less than seven years but may even extend to life imprisonment. At least 28 people were killed and more than 250 injured in the violence that left a trail of destruction and vandalism.
BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj termed the verdict as a conspiracy to defame Indian culture in a planned way. Virtually resorting to victim shaming, the MP said that only one person’s view is taken into account by Court and voices of crores of people who are standing by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh are being ignored. Sakshi also said that, if a bigger incident happens, the court will also be responsible and not just Dera followers.
